Session Overview
The cycle-breaker is not someone with an unusually strong will. They are someone who has encountered truth and allowed it to restructure their thinking. Romans 12:2 calls for transformation through the renewing of the mind — not behavior modification, but cognitive and spiritual reformation. The cycle breaks when one person decides to live differently based on what they now know of God.
Romans 12:2 (AMP)
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
Key Points
- Transformation comes through renewed thinking, not through willpower alone.
- The cycle-breaker is not a superhuman; they are an ordinary person captured by truth.
- Breaking a cycle requires both diagnosis (understanding) and prescription (application of truth).
- One changed life can redirect an entire generational trajectory.
Reflection Questions
- What ‘new script’ do you need to begin practicing this week — not as performance, but as genuine change?
- Where have you been trying to break a cycle through willpower rather than through renewed thinking?
- What truth have you encountered in this study that you now need to allow to restructure your thinking?
- What would it look like for you to be the cycle-breaker in your family’s story?
