A Nation in Covenant
Tanzania
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.”
— Isaiah 60:1 (KJV)
The Heritage
Tanzania is a nation that carries light well. From the Swahili coast, where traders and teachers have crossed the Indian Ocean for a thousand years, to the great interior of Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti, Tanzania has long been a meeting place of peoples and languages united by a common tongue and a common hope.
The church in Tanzania is young, joyful, and growing — a fellowship that sings with the full voice of the nation. Jerome Jones Ministries stands in covenant partnership with the pastors and churches of Tanzania: honoring local leadership, resourcing them with sound biblical teaching, and covering them in prayer as the light of uhuru — true freedom in Christ — passes from village to village.
The Covenant Artifact — The Uhuru Torch

The torch of freedom — uhuru — carried hand to hand across a nation. In Tanzania it has always been carried, never hoarded: a light that exists to be passed on. So it is with the Gospel.
The Fruit We Pray For
Isaiah heard the command before he saw the reason: arise and shine, because the light has already come. That is the posture of the Tanzanian church — a people who celebrate salvation before they explain it. We pray to see this fruit multiply: congregations whose praise is the loudest sound in the valley, and believers whose freedom in Christ is visible from the road.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” — Galatians 5:22–23

Covenant Partner — Tanzania
Our partner ministry in Tanzania will be introduced as formal announcements are made. We honor our partners’ timing and their leadership, and we share their names with the same care they extend to us.
Carry This Light Forward
Worldwide evangelism moves the way the Gospel always has — one carrier at a time, sustained by prayer, resourced by partners, and honored by God. If the work in Tanzania stirs something in you, we would be honored to have you stand with it.
Prefer to pray with us? Write to us and we will gladly share the nations we are carrying this month.
