We have sat across from a brand-new believer holding a Bible like it was made of glass — afraid to mark it, afraid to misread it, afraid that opening it wrong might somehow offend the God who gave it. We have also sat across from believers twenty, thirty, forty years into their walk, who quietly confessed that their Bible had become a decoration on a shelf rather than a well they drew from daily.
