The Urgency of the Living Voice of God

After everything this book has confronted — the lie of assumed salvation, the hardened heart, the illusion of time, the misuse of grace, the reality of judgment — we arrive at the most important word in all of Scripture for the person who is still alive and still reading: today.

Today is not a threat. Today is a mercy. It is God, who knows the precise moment when your vapor of a life will dissipate, leaning toward you one more time and saying: while it is still today, the door is open.

2 Corinthians 6:2 — KJV
For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
dektos (Strong’s #G1184): Acceptable, favorable, approved — the moment of divine openness and opportunity. Used to describe the present window of salvation that must not be presumed upon.

The Ten Virgins: When the Door Closed

Matthew 25:10-12 — KJV
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

The five foolish virgins were not atheists. They were waiting for the bridegroom. What they lacked was oil — and oil in Scripture represents the Holy Spirit, the genuine indwelling presence of God that marks the truly surrendered life. They went to get oil while they were away — and the door closed.

“Five of them thought they were ready. Five of them were wrong. And the door does not re-open.”

What Genuine Surrender Looks Like Right Now

This chapter is not ending with doctrine. It is ending with an invitation. Genuine surrender is not a feeling. It is a decision — clear-eyed, fully informed, and permanent in its intent — to turn from a life lived for self and turn toward a life lived for God.

Romans 10:9-10 — KJV
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

To the Church: The Alarm Must Sound

If you are a pastor, a teacher, a worship leader, a deacon, a Sunday school teacher, a mother who prays over her children — this word is for you: Stop burying people in false comfort.

Ezekiel 33:6 — KJV
But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet… he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

To Everyone: The Door Is Still Open

You are still breathing. You are still reading. The Spirit of God is still speaking — which means today is still today for you. The gulf is not yet fixed. The door is not yet shut. The bridegroom has not yet come.

“Not everyone goes to heaven. But you can. Today. Through the only One who ever made a way.”
