Satan’s Most Effective Deception

There is a sentence that has sent more people to hell than almost any other. It is not a profane sentence. It is a quiet, reasonable-sounding sentence that billions of people have said to themselves and to God: “I will get to it later.”

Satan does not need to convince you that God is not real. He only needs to convince you that you have enough time to respond to it later — and then make sure “later” never comes.

James 4:13-14 — KJV
Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
atmis (Strong’s #G822): A mist, vapor, smoke — something that appears briefly and then disappears. Used in James 4:14 to describe the brevity of human life.

You are spending vapor. You are gambling eternity on mist.

The Parable Jesus Told About This Exact Sin

Luke 12:16-20 — KJV
The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully… This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater… Soul, take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee.

This man was not a villain. He was a planner. His fatal error was that he planned for every contingency except the one that mattered most. He calculated his retirement but not his eternity. And on the very night he finished planning his future, his future ended.

Death Does Not Make an Appointment

We have buried young people. We have stood at the gravesides of men and women in the fullness of their health who had made plans for next week and never arrived there. Death does not schedule around your convenience. It comes — and when it comes, the window of surrender closes. Not because God becomes unwilling. Because you are no longer able.

Hebrews 9:27 — KJV
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.
apokeimai (Strong’s #G606): To be laid up, reserved, appointed. Death is not random — it is appointed. And judgment follows without delay.

If there were a second chance after death — the Book of Hebrews would not say “after this the judgment.” It says judgment. Immediate. Appointed. Certain.
