Even in ministry, leadership is frequently pursued as a means of being served, protected from correction, and elevated above others. The blind spot is leadership as elevation.
Soul-Searching Questions

Do you lead in a way that primarily serves those under your authority, or in a way that primarily protects your comfort, reputation, and position?

2. The Divine Perspective & Biblical Examples
"They which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them… but so shall it not be among you… For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister."
Jesus establishes an entirely inverted leadership economy: greatness is measured by the towel, not the throne.
Example 1 — Jesus Christ: In John 13, fully aware He was Teacher and Lord, He used that exact authority to kneel and wash feet.
Example 2 — King Rehoboam (1 Kings 12:1-16): He rejected wise counsel to serve the people and made their burden heavier — the united kingdom of Israel fractured immediately as a result.

The Towel Assignment
Identify one specific, practical, “beneath your role” task currently needed by someone under your leadership, and do it yourself, personally, without delegating or announcing it. Additionally, ask one person you lead where they feel unserved or unheard by your leadership — and receive their answer without defending yourself.
