SESSION 10: ENDURANCE UNDER PRESSURE — FIXING OUR EYES
Core Scripture: James 1:2-4 & Hebrews 12:2
1. The Awakening Catalyst
Conditioned by instant gratification, many believers abandon assignments the moment they become difficult — relabeling quitting as “discernment.” The blind spot is premature exit.
Soul-Searching Questions
Question 1
How many unfinished assignments or relationships in your life were abandoned not because God closed the door, but because the pressure got uncomfortable?

Question 2
What trial are you currently in the middle of that you’ve been begging God to shorten, rather than asking Him what it’s producing in you?

Question 3
If joy in trials is a command, not a suggestion, what does your actual emotional posture toward your hardest current season reveal?

2. The Divine Perspective & Biblical Examples
"Count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience."
The Greek dokimion (“trying”) is a metallurgical term — testing metal’s purity by fire, removing dross until only genuine substance remains.
"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame."
Example 1 — Jesus Christ: From Gethsemane to Golgotha to the resurrection, He did not shorten the process or call the twelve legions of angels available to Him.
Example 2 — The Wilderness Generation (Numbers 14:1-4): At every difficulty they proposed premature exit — preferring known slavery to the discomfort of the process toward promise.

The Fixed Gaze Commitment
Identify the trial or assignment you’re most tempted to abandon prematurely. Write down explicitly what “joy set before you” this endurance is producing, and place it somewhere you’ll see daily.
